about

I began working on this album in April of 2015, and completed it in October of 2016. This was during a time of political and social turmoil in the U.S., which is something I was alternately thinking about, commenting on, and intentionally ignoring while/by/through writing and producing this music. It was also a time of transition for me, personally — transition from high school to college, several states away; transition into adulthood; transition and growth into new (and, I think, improved) styles and practices as a musician. The vision behind the album has evolved significantly over the course of its creation, and honestly I prefer what it’s turned into over my original vision. As it stands, the album to me has a feeling of momentum, of entering the unknown (whether that sparks positive or negative feelings), of transition and growth into something new and different, for better or for worse.
