about

Additional EP is an extension of Exquisitism. There was no deluxe version nor any bonus tracks at the initial time of release, so I decided to make this EP instead. If it’s well enough liked, I might even create a deluxe version of Exquisitism that incorporates all of these tracks.

Exquisitism is all about words and meaning and implications, which can be seen in the piece titles and the music videos. That theme is continued in this EP and its tracks, right down to the record title - “Additional EP.” That’s exactly what it is.

As for the origins of the tracks, they’re all from separate places, the majority of them from the stash of tracks cut from my previous two releases. The first two tracks, obviously, have already been released, although the intro wasn’t previously made available for download.

The last track was one I created to be on Exquisitism, because I wanted to include Moonlight Streets on the album but I didn’t want the length of it to hinder the flow. I ultimately decided to leave the six-minute original version of the piece that first appeared on Floating EP in the album, though, because I liked it so much. Actually, the original reason I wanted to release this EP was that I also liked the shorter edit of Moonlight Streets enough that I wanted to make sure it saw the light of day.

Calamity was originally going to be on Exquisitism (right after Move., for those interested) but I cut it because the album was already nearly an hour long and I didn’t want it to drag on for forever and lose the audience’s interest.

I began working on The Ambiguous Roll at the same time I was making the majority of the material for Floating EP and I originally intended to have it included on that first release, which would have made the original EP seven tracks and over thirty minutes long with Moonlight Streets on it, but it wasn’t finished by the time I wanted to release the track list so I didn’t include it. Then, I couldn’t find a place for it in the emotional flow of Exquisitism, so it wasn’t completed then or included there, either. When I decided to release this EP, I found it again and cleaned it up. It will finally get its release here, in this collection.

This EP is still solidly in the Exquisitism “era.” I don’t think it’s quite time to depart from this album or move on to other concepts or projects yet. There might even be another single off the album in the future, if all the factors that go into making something a single come together in the right way. We’ll see. In any case, as stated above, this is an extension of Exquisitism, another puzzle piece that I feel fits well and helps paint more of the picture I’m looking for through this album.

I hope you enjoy the music and you love this EP as much as I do!
